McSweeney's takes on Harry Potter!

I just wanted to link to this because I think it's delightfully witty... McSweeney's Interpretation of the HBP Cover.

That's all.

Reasons I Love My Blogger

I love my Blogger more than Xanga because:
  1. it makes formatting my posts much easier/more enjoyable.
  2. it is where I began my blogging experience.
  3. it has my DVD list, which, although rarely updated, is still a wonderful feature.
  4. it is prettier.

I use Xanga more than my Blogger because:

  1. my Xanga friends play nicer (i.e. update more frequently) than my Blogger friends... a habit which is rewarding in the Xanga community.
  2. it is somewhat easier.

In the end, I'm keeping both, because it is my hope that one day I can resurrect my Blogger. Right now, I'm just too lazy... and I know it's terribly inefficient to post to two blogs, but still... I've got to keep you all on your toes, haven't I?

Wednesday, June 22

I've decided that it's about time to try and post to my blogger again, mainly because I can't stand the title I gave my previous post. Plus, I hate that every time I check this site, it hasn't been updated.

Hmmmm.

I've come to the realization that no one really ever wants to come to; it seems that I have almost nothing to offer to potential employers outside of an intense interest in doing the kind of work I'm looking at doing. I want to work in publishing. More specifically, I'd like to work in children's publishing. My qualifications? Well, I've read some children's books and even own a few. It is a belief of mine that children's literature is among to most important work published, as it instills in future generations a desire to learn, to read, and to live. But...

I've never had an internship, or even an applicable job (unless you count this year I've spent answering phones, sending faxes, and filing things... which seems to be what I'd start out doing in publishing anyway.) I've never worked for a newspaper or written much outside of my own feeble attempts at fiction and essays for classes. I've never traveled outside of the U.S. The list goes on and on... and while it's nice to think that I still have the opportunity to do all these things, I can't, really, from where I'm sitting. I have negative amounts of money. I can't get anyone to answer my friggin job inquiries. ANYWAY...

I'm going to go brush my teeth because I feel the need.
