I want to start to write more... but blegh. I want a lot of things. For now, I will blame the fact that I can't focus on the fact that our air-conditioner is not working. Here is a paragraph I wrote, inspired in part by an episode of Sex and the City and in part by a post of a friend of mine on his Xanga. And maybe a little because of the fact that it's humid and I feel gross.
Being single isn’t not fun, or, for those of you who have a hard time wrapping both lobes around double negatives… being single isn’t without its perks. For example, without a significant other, one is free to make eyes at whomever he feels inclined to without repercussion (unless that wayward glance is caught, in which case some trouble may arise.) One is also free to spend his time and money exactly as he chooses. One is free to stay “I” rather than “we,” “me” rather than “us,” and “mine” instead of that tricky little “ours.” Is it selfish being single? Of course it is. But in a society where so much value is placed upon individuality and isolationism, is singularity a bad thing? Apparently.
Anyway... it's banal and obvious... and I wrote it as the beginning of a short story but I eventually got bored and exhausted with it (mainly because of the mundane-philisophical slant evidenced in this paragraph.) I imagine this as the tone to a larger piece... but I'll have to wait for inspiration. Hmmmmmm. Now I think I'm going to attempt to try and piss some people off...

You can all start reading this again!
With a slew of free time on my proverbial hands now that I've graduated (with a 4.0 in my final semester... sorry... I can't get over it... I haven't had fridge-worthy grades since high school!) you can expect a few more updates to this site. So far I've deleted the ubiquitous "quote of the moment" which I thought I liked until it made me feel like one of those pre-sorority girls (READ: a pretty-faced high school girl who says "like" a lot and writes with gel pens with a flower/feather on the end) and added some more of my pals' blogs to the links at right, which I've also re-titled and re-ordered so that they fit along with one of societies most beloved and time-tested catchphrases. I think it gives the ol' blog a more homely, less terse feel; whether that's for the better or worse has yet to be determined. Other things you may (or may not) have to look forward to:
+ two all new and amazing stories from my Spring 2005 portfolio
+ an update of all the DVD's I own, along with those that are MIA*
+ a new look and feel
+ more frequent and more elaborative updating
All these changes hinge on 1) how easy it is for me to access the internet from home now that we no longer pay for it (yes, I'll be attempting to steal from other wireless internet connections) and 2) how much energy I really have this summer. I don't know what my life's going to be like... all I know is it can't get much more hectic and draining than it was last semester, although I guess all that work was worth it in the end. Honestly... can you believe it? A semester chock-full of English classes, and an A in all of them! WOO! Wow... I'm getting light-headed now; I think I'll lay down for a bit.

I'll "beer" around!
That was a pun that didn't quite pan out. Here's the results of a survey I took:

I'm guessing those who used to check this site semi-regularly no longer do because of my piss-poor updating habits. Still, I'd like to let you all know a few things...
1. I graduated on Saturday.
2. It was a great time.
3. I'm now waxing a little bit nostalgic.
4. I'm really going to miss all my friends.
5. I still don't have a job.
6. I'm living in Manhattan for the summer.
7. My apartment doesn't allow dogs, so I can't get one, which sucks.
8. I'm still hoping desperately to get my happy ass out of Kansas.
That is all... consider yourself warned!

Effing 'A'
Having officially completed my final two research papers for my Harry Potter and Bloomsbury Group classes, and having been the most stressed about them that I think I have ever been about any assignment for the sheer fact that I put them off until the very last possible second, I am pleased to inform you that I received an A on both accounts.
What an effing weight off my shoulders!
Does this mean I'm going to have a 4.0 semester? Doubtful... although I also got back my scenes/final project for Screenwriting and received yet another A there (so that means that everything I've done in that class has earned an A)... so that's a fourth of the necessary equipment.

Let's not shit ourselves...
:)
I've decided that my life's not going to be interesting unless I write it that way, so take all this for what it's worth.
Today I decided that no matter what, I am going to force myself out of Kansas by October, regardless of career, money, etc. I will live in a shit box and make my dream for myself, because I figure it's useless waiting for it to happen, right? In the meantime, I have been reading these wonderful books for school, which I feel is giving me a wonderful background for my future writing. This summer, which starts in two fun-packed weeks, I will read and write more as I attempt to explore the world through my mind.
Okay, all this excitement's really exhausted me, so I'm going to go back to my reading. If you want more, check here... I've been posting there a lot more frequently.
