Stupid Target So I went and interviewed at Target with Ashley yesterday. We went at about 1:00 in the afternoon and they found our applications, then told us there would be a one to two hour wait before our first interviews. So we waited (it only took about forty-five minutes, thank God) and interviewed, then waited about another half hour before our second interviews. Some of the questions were pretty ridiculous ("Were you ever in a group or team that accomplished something? What did you do?"), but I guess I didn't do too well, because Ashley got hired and I didn't. They told me they'd call me in seven to ten days, which I took to be a euphemism for "no". The insult to the injury was that the woman who I work with at Peterson Clinical Lab (Pam) who can't remember the alphabet got a job. Dammit. Hopefully Coldstone comes through!!! Otherwise poverty looks to be my middle name for awhile.

My roommate got back in town yesterday, so I'm no longer living alone. We're setting up internet and phone stuff, which is exciting. I also went to the post office and asked about my mail, which I haven't got since I moved here. They were absolutely no help. In fact, they made me feel like an idiot for asking... seems to be a trend in the people I encounter.

Anyway, I must go to my crappy $65 a week job now where I will correct Pam's filing mistakes and walk around for five hours before coming home to... nothing. Maybe I'll see "Finding Nemo" tonight. Blah.

Hello Again Wooo it's been a long time. I finally have internet in my apartment, so MAYBE I can start keeping up with this baby. My job at Peterson's is finally making sense, and I have learned that I'm not too much of a fan. I am a fan of my apartment though; it's like living in a hotel (a maid service even came and cleaned one day last week!) We have had a few fun parties, and it's been great.

My grandpa has a new girlfriend... the fourth since my grandma died on May 29th of last year. It's kind of disgusting and upsetting, but at least he's happy. I went home this weekend and hung out with my family; we had sort of been at odds, as my mom sprung it on my that she thought I did a horrible job of thinking my summer plans through. We worked it out and had a great weekend, and David even came back and is spending the week here at my apartment. It's been fun, although I think he's pretty bored.

I've now applied at Target (I interview on Thursday) and Coldstone (I audition on June 9th)... so I think I'm going to see how those turn out. I almost think I'd rather work at Coldstone... just due to the better money-making potential. Hopefully I don't get stuck with some asshole pseudo-mafia Jew bastard as a manager... that would suck. Otherwise, things are the same. I'll keep you posted (or try to do a better job from now on!)

Summer Well I'm officially done (I was on Tuesday, but my updating habits are becomming almost as bad as Jason's). The room's cleared out, Dave's gone, Jessica's gone, Kyle's graduating, all my stuff's in my new apartment, and I'm now working on my own at Peterson's. It's CRAZY how much it seems like all this has changed in ONE DAY (actually most of this DID happen in one day). It's actually all kind of wearing me down right now. I'm sure it'll be better after awhile, but man oh man I just want to sleep and forget how much I already miss my friends who're gone (like Jessica... Lord knows when we'll see her again.)

All in all, I think my summer will be pretty relaxing. I NEED to find another job (mom called and chewed me out this morning about finances), but still, I don't think life's going to be all that bad. I'm planning on reading a lot I hope, as well as working out as part of the "happy plan" Katie and I divised over the phone last night. Speaking of which... not only did some little tree across the street burn down, but also an entire bar and a small store. I dunno WHAT was up with that. I am also going to visit Aunt Sis and Uncle Chester in Georgia this summer (June 27th - July 7th), so that'll be exciting :)

Well my friends, this is the last shift I'm working at the good old front desk. It's kind of like the end of an era. Tonight's the last night I'll spend in Putnam Hall. ANYWAY... I'm not really sure if or when I'll have internet again, so until that time, just remember one thing. I like birds. Peace, my faithful blog-checkers. Oh and come visit me at Commons... apartment 179 in building T! I'll make you something.

Monday, May 12

Boo. For some reason, I am having a hard time getting started with studying for my final (which happens at 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon). It seems like everytime I sit down, something more enticing pops up... whether it's my bored craft-hungry friends or a Filmwise Invisible or an unhappy Katie... I just can't seem to concentrate. I just want the semester to be over so I can move to my apartment and sleep more.

My room is packed up a lot. We even took my bed down today since the futon's gone. It's pretty depressing, but at the same time it's making me anxious to move out. I also have been working at Peterson's for a week (I know... it's been forever since I updated), and that's going pretty well. I'm still a little overwhelmed by all the stuff I have to learn, but I hear it gets a lot easier. For $5.50/hr... it had better!

Other than the Shakespeare final though, my spring semester is over. Now I am left saying goodbye to a lot of my friends (like Kyle, who is graduating and Joe, who is moving home for the summer and then taking a semester abroad in Spain, and Jessica, who is moving back home to St. Louis for good). So no fun there! Plus I'm leaving my favorite roommate EVER, Dave... which sucks. But... a little change can't be all bad.

Damn I'm lonely.

Monday, May 5

I Found a Job! Today I had my interview at Peterson Clinical Lab for the courier position. Basically the guy told me what I'd be doing and offered me the job (pretty easy!) The only problem is... it's only thirteen to sixteen hours a week, and even then I only get paid $5.50 an hour. So, while I'm going in for my first day tomorrow (CRAZY!), I'm still waiting to hear back from Barry's Pharmacy (twenty hours a week, $6.00 an hour). I also contacted Oatmeal Studios about writing greeting card quips for money; they're sending me some "writing guidelines" so I can start doing that too. I think whatever I choose to do, I'm going to apply at Target this summer to maybe try and work the overnight shift. I'm thinking it'll be good money, which I need! So... that's that.

Also today, the two free DVD's I ordered from Universal came! So now I own Jaws and The Lost World: Jurassic Park. That brings the count up to one hundred sixty... which is insane.

Apparently a Coldstone Creamery is opening up here in Manhattan sometime soon. Maybe I should consider working there???

Saturday, May 3

Hot Water? Nahh. I forgot to mention the events that are going on all over campus right now! Our hot water has been shut off since Thursday until AT LEAST Monday (though I just heard rumors that this may last until Wednesday.) That means no showering and no meals in Van Zile (we have to walk over to the nasty Derb to eat!) Scott just walked by and said he's thinking about getting a $30 hotel room and charging people $2 for a fifteen-minute shower (with five additional minutes to undress and dress... free of charge). I think that's hillarious... and ridiculous. This f-ing school sucks!!! At least I have friends like Joe and Adam who allow me to make the five-minute drive to their apartment and use their shower so that I'm not such a smelly beast. But yeah... that whole thing pisses me off.

Also, check out Jason's blog entry today! His illustration of our Channel Twenty-five experiences glows with incendiary wit. Steve, Bob, and Rich FOREVER!!!
Whoop! So I have now seen X2 twice, and I love it. It's one of those Summer Blockbusters that you don't walk out feeling as if Hollywood is under the assumption that "gray matter" refers to dust and cobwebs. It makes me wish I was more into comic books and the like when I was younger... so I'd know more of what is going on. Ahh well!

So far, no work has gone into the final papers. I should probably be doing it right now while I'm at work, but instead I'm reading my Entertainment Weekly (I'm on a rousing article about Hilary Duff right now.)

Last night I ate dinner at Jennie's house with Jennie and Ashley, and ended up staying there for awhile cleaning the place up because it was really bothering me. If only nastiness plagued my mind when I was in my OWN room... it'd be pretty nice. Then I went to Allen's part and had a couple drinks with Joe and the gang, then came home and watched Channel Twenty-Five till like 4:00am with Jason. It is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen... the programming quality is so horrible. Ahhhh it's great.

I've found myself unable to think about much recently except how I want to throw a party in my apartment when I get moved in for the summer. I keep thinking about how fun it would be to have a big one if/when Katie comes to visit this summer. Wouldn't it be cool!! She's kind of scared because of her supposed reputation around these parts as "the ex", but I assured her it's not that way at all. ANYWAY... she is already done with school and moved back home for the summer yesterday. So... I haven't talked to her in "awhile" (which has actually only been two days... but it seems longer.)

Can anybody find me a girlfriend? One who doesn't mind my random obsession of the moment: X2? Fifty bucks to whoever can... I'm lonely.

Friday, May 2

Mmm Grape! Recently, I have rekindled my love for artificially-flavored grape things. I used to be not such a fan, but now I am having weird cravings for Jolly Joes, grape slushies, and stuff of that nature. Maybe I'm weird, or maybe I'm just pregnant.

I watched Friends last night and was saddened to discover that Monica and Chandler are both infertile. It was sad, but I think we all know that they're going to get lucky before the show ends next season. Also, the fact that Ross decided to let Joey have the gorgeous Charlie only solidifies the fact that he and Rachel are going to end up together. In fact, I bet Monica will go into labor during Ross and Rachel's wedding!!! Oh, Friends; how could I deny you for so long???

I think this weekend is shaping up to be a boring one. I'm a little low on flow, so the whole going out and doing fun stuff is looking less feasible all the time. Oh well... it'll give me a chance to get a jump on the homework thing. Which is good, because the sooner I don't have to worry about school crap is the sooner my happiness begins. That makes me want to listen to that Powderfinger song....

Thursday, May 1

Here ya go! It's kind of funny that they day I mentioned the fact that was posting too much, my life suddenly became "too busy" for me to remember to update this thing! Thanks to Katie, however, my profile should be updated more frequently.

I finally finished Paradise, but now I'm thinking I'm going to have to read it again in order to write my final paper. Let's count off the things I have left to do before the end of the year:

1. Final paper for Intro. to Literary Studies (may need to re-read Paradise
2. Read Antony and Cleopatra for Shakespeare; study As You Like It, King Lear and Antony and Cleopatra for final on Thursday, May 15th.
3. Read two chapters for Social Welfare (probably won't do), Two-page take home final.
4. Revise my two short stories ("A Plant Named Rachel" and "Pets Allowed"); compile portfolio for Fiction Writing.

That doesn't sound TOO taxing! Thank God it's almost over! I'm getting really excited about the apartment this summer... it should be GREAT! I'll have my own bedroom AND bathroom.... ahhhh I'm so excited!

Those of you who know me and who know what happened on American Idol last night don't need me to explain to you just how pissed off I was after last night's show. So I won't go into that.

And finally, Jason and I are planning on starting filming of the film-version of my short story "A Plant Named Rachel" on Saturday. Too bad Jessica, our Rachel, felt it necessary to go home yesterday. I'll be surprised if she comes back at all except to get the shit out of her room. Whatever. OH... and Dave's girlfriend, April, is coming up this weekend, so I'm pretty excited about that. She's a fun girl; they make me happy. PEACE!
